FAQ – Thangaat Garba Workshops
Who can attend the workshop?
The workshop is open to everyone ages 8 and above. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced Garba dancer, you’re welcome!
Do I need prior Garba experience?
No. The workshop is designed for all skill levels. Every step is taught progressively so everyone can learn with confidence.
I attended the Thangaat Workshop last year. Will I learn something new this year?
Absolutely! Every Thangaat Workshop features brand-new choreography, fresh combinations, updated techniques, and exciting Garba variations. Even if you attended last year, you’ll learn new moves, improve your technique, and leave with fresh ideas for the upcoming Navratri season.
What will I learn?
You’ll learn authentic Garba techniques, footwork, spins, styling, musicality, transitions, formations, and performance tips that you can confidently use during Navratri celebrations.
Do I have to attend both days of the workshop?
We highly recommend attending both days. The workshop follows a structured curriculum, with each day building on the previous one. Attending both days will give you the complete learning experience and help you get the most out of the workshop.
However, we understand that schedules can be busy. If you’re only able to attend one day, you’re still welcome to join. We’d much rather have you learn something than miss out entirely!
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.
-
Ladies: Chaniya Choli is encouraged, but comfortable workout attire is perfectly fine.
-
Men: Kurta-Pajama is encouraged, but comfortable athletic clothing is also welcome.
Please wear comfortable athletic shoes or dance sneakers unless otherwise instructed.
What should I bring?
Please bring:
-
A water bottle
-
Comfortable footwear
-
A small towel (optional)
-
Lots of energy and enthusiasm!
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive 15–20 minutes before the workshop begins to allow time for check-in.
Will we learn traditional or modern Garba?
You’ll learn authentic Garba foundations along with exciting contemporary variations and combinations that are perfect for Navratri.
Is this workshop suitable for beginners?
Yes! Beginners are welcome, and every step is broken down clearly before building into combinations.
Will experienced dancers benefit?
Absolutely. Experienced dancers will learn advanced styling, intricate footwork, smoother transitions, musical interpretation, and fresh choreography.
Can parents watch the workshop?
To provide the best learning environment and maximize dance space, the workshop is intended for registered participants only.
Are refunds available?
Workshop registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the event is canceled by Studio Dhoom.
Can I register at the door?
If space is available, yes. However, advance registration is highly recommended, as workshops often sell out.
Will there be opportunities to take photos?
Yes! We’ll have time at the end of the workshop for group photos and individual pictures with the instructor(s), time permitting.
Will I receive a recording of the workshop?
Yes! All registered participants will receive access to the workshop recording after the event so you can review the choreography and continue practicing at home.
What if I’m running late?
You’re welcome to join when you arrive, but we encourage everyone to arrive on time so you don’t miss the warm-up and foundational instruction.
How can I prepare for the workshop?
Stay hydrated, eat a light meal beforehand, wear comfortable clothing, and come ready to dance, learn, and have fun!
Will I get individual feedback?
Yes. Our instructors will provide tips and corrections throughout the workshop whenever possible to help you improve.
Is this workshop only for Navratri?
While the workshop is designed to prepare you for Navratri, the techniques and choreography you learn will help you become a stronger Garba dancer year-round.
What makes the Thangaat Garba Workshop different?
The Thangaat Garba Workshop is more than just learning dance steps. You’ll learn authentic technique, musicality, styling, formations, transitions, and the small details that make your dancing stand out. Whether you’re dancing for Navratri, performances, competitions, or family celebrations, you’ll leave feeling more confident, skilled, and inspired.
